Monument Community Partnership Neighborhood Action Team Residents

Training Opportunities

TEAMS’ staff and community leaders are available to work with your organization to develop resident leadership and community partnerships.

Drawing on the innate talents of our staff and of our experienced SAT facilitators, whose experience as residents of low-income communities is matched with five years of skills development and training as a part of TEAMS, we are well-positioned to offer valuable training to community organizations, government agencies and groups seeking genuine partnerships with low-income residents in decision-making and community building. All training programs are adapted to the specific needs of our organizational partners.

The following training programs are available in English and in Spanish:

  • Support Action Teams Training of Trainers: how to design, initiate and implement a resident based action leadership program in your community.
  • Financial Action Community Teams: training on community investments to create action teams of residents able to generate and invest resources as social entrepreneurs.
  • The Heart of Partnership: How to truly support resident leadership: a resident designed and led workshop for professionals who wish to work effectively as partners with residents.
  • Digital storytelling for community building: how to create and share personal stories to bridge divides of ethnicity, age, class, etc. to create a strong, connected community base.
  • Grassroots Evaluation: how to partner with residents to design and implement evaluations that truly reflect community needs and goals, measuring authentic community change

In addition, TEAMS is available to provide training and consultation in the following areas:

International development work

For five years we offered group facilitation, team building, effective communication, popular education and conflict resolution training to community-based agencies in Central America. Our Director of Training has conducted Training of Trainers in our model throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, south Asia and in Eastern Europe.

Community-based strategic planning

We have facilitated and taught planning skills at many levels, from grassroots nonprofit agencies, to countywide planning for family-centered services to international planning of community-based breastfeeding promotion activities for Latin America
